TOPEKA, Kan. – Robert Hight may have lost the battle Sunday at Heartland Park-Topeka, but the 27-time NHRA tour winner took the first steps toward ultimately winning the war with a performance in the Kansas Nationals that recalled the past dominance of his Auto Club Ford Mustang.
Even though he had to settle for second place after points leader Johnny Gray sped to victory in the final round, Hight put together seven straight representative runs in qualifying and eliminations to signal his readiness to once more contend for the Mello Yello Funny Car Championship.
