After a one-year hiatus, a Mustang GT "California Special" package, nicknamed the GT/CS, returned for the 2011 model year – revamped to enhance the body redesign that Mustang underwent for 2010. Again paying homage to the limited-edition Mustang of the same name from 1968, this latest GT/CS combined classic "Shelby" style with modern engineering and performance. Based on the Mustang GT Premium, the 2011 GT/CS boasts Ford's brand-new 5.0-liter DOHC V-8 that produces 412 horsepower.Like in previous years, the '11 GT/CS featured a variety of unique enhancements to help differentiate it from the standard Mustang. A revised front fascia, grille, and "diffuser-style" rear fascia were again part of the GT/CS package that included 19-inch argent-painted machined aluminum wheels, and a GT/CS faux rear gas cap. Even the requisite "GT/CS" side and decklid stripes were redesigned for 2011 to match the Mustang's more modern exterior styling.Inside, black leather seating and door trim with special "carbon" inserts gave the GT/CS interior a look all its own. Specially embroidered GT/CS logo floor mats and a uniquely finished instrument panel completed cabin enhancement for the 2011 California Special.
