2012 SVT COBRA
Continuing on the success of the more powerful and lighter 2011 SVT Cobra, the 2012 SVT Cobra offered a host of interior upgrades. Tops on that list were optional Recaro® seats, the result of a combined global engineering effort that included Ford SVT in the United States, Team Mustang North America, Team RS in Europe and Recaro®. The seats feature larger side bolstering for additional lateral support during spirited driving on the track, and improved seat back cushioning for added comfort and support for driving on the street and long trips.
Also included for 2012 was the addition of the Mustang’s new selectable steering system that allows drivers to choose up to three different settings. Those on the SVT Cobra are specifically tuned for the performance-oriented driver: In “Sport” mode, steering effort is at its highest, allowing a superior feel of the road and chassis. At the other end of the scale is the “Comfort” mode, offering the most steering assistance with the least amount of effort for a more relaxing driving experience. In-between is the “Standard” mode for normal everyday driving.
Another new electronics feature was the addition of next-generation SYNC® that includes AppLink. AppLink allows SYNC® users the ability of employing voice commands to access downloaded apps stored in their smartphone, as well as voice-activated enhanced navigation for a complete hands-free operation.
The other major change for the model year was the elimination of Sterling Gray Metallic exterior paint from the color selection palette.
