New B-Spec Series Announced By Grand-Am

JAN. 28, 2012
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Grand-Am Road Racing on Saturday announced a six-event, B-Spec racing series for 2012.

Staged in conjunction with Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Racing Series and Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge race weekends, the compact car-only series will compete at venues throughout North America.

"This will be for compact cars like the Ford Fiesta," Ford Racing Performance Business Manager George Goddu said.

"The goal is to provide an inexpensive, highly accessible means for amateur-only racers to buy, maintain and race their cars. We don't expect to see teams with haulers running around the country in pursuit of winning B-Spec races."

The series will open April 27-29 at Homestead-Miami Speedway and includes the five following venues: New Jersey Motorsports Park (may 11-13); Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course (June 8-9); Watkins Glen International (June 29-July 1); Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca (Sept. 7-9); and, Lime Rock Park (Sept. 7-9).
