A Freestyle Motocross pioneer, off-road racing champion, and RallyCross medalist, Brian Deegan has come a long way since he turned heads in 1997 by ghost-riding his motocross bike across the LA coliseum finish line. The Metal Mulisha team co-owner was the 2011 “Lucas Oil Off-Road Short Course Driver of the Year” and named 28th on ESPN’s list of “50 Most Influential People in Action Sports” in 2012.
With a combined 15 X Games Medals, Deegan is the most decorated Freestyle Motocross rider in X Games’ history and is the only rider to compete in at least one event each year since the X Games’ inception (1995). Along the way, he has overcome three near-death experiences, broken bones, lost a kidney and severely injured his spleen while establishing himself as one of the top talents and competitors in the sport.
Deegan has raced a Fiesta at the X Games since 2009 and in 2010 announced a formal partnership with Ford Racing, expanding his domination of the motorsports world. Between X Games Super Rally and RallyCross, Deegan earned a pair of silver medals in 2010, claimed a gold medal in 2011 and a bronze medal in 2012. In his first campaign for the Global Rallycross Championship, Deegan finished second in the championship fight with five podium appearances.
In 2012, Deegan earned his second-consecutive Pro2 championship in the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series in his Ford F-150 SVT Raptor.
