LOORRS Returns As Deegan Seeks Dominant Form

The Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series (LOORRS) kicks off this weekend at Firebird Raceway in Chandler, Ariz., and that’s good news for the versatile and decorated Brian Deegan, who has had extremely successful back-to-back years.
After winning both the Pro 2 Unlimited and Pro Lite championships in 2011, as well as being named LOORRS Pro 2 Rookie of the Year, he then secured his second straight Pro 2 title last season.
That means Deegan has a lot to live up to. Or does he? Do you continue to vie for those championships full-force, or sit back and smell the roses? According to him, he’s trying to do a little of both.
While Deegan has already achieved so many of his own personal and professional goals on and off the track, he’s not letting that stop him from adding more to the list. However, he knows now that he can “enjoy the ride” a little more and not stress over the little mishaps that can happen in the world of racing motorsports.
While the Pro 2 class has obviously been dominated by Deegan over the past couple of years, the Pro Lite division is a different story. Even though he took first place at the season-opening event in 2011, last year didn’t pan out as expected. Deegan had many ups-and-downs throughout the season, including mechanical hang ups forcing him to the back of the pack off the start. There were a few instances he was able to battle his way back to the front for a podium finish. He ended the season by claiming a handful of victories and podium stand-outs, but couldn’t pull away with the championship again.
This weekend at Firebird Raceway is just the start of yet another jam-packed, dirt-throwing season and regardless of whether or not Deegan takes home any hardware, we can count on a full season of action from him.
