VIDEO: Relive The Year In Action Motorsports

JAN. 23, 2013
Ford Racing drivers and teams captivated the action motorsports 2012 season with championships, X Games medals, victories, podium appearances and the occasional three-wheel finish. As a thank-you to them, here is a recap video highlighting the impact they had on our year.

The Global Rallycross Championship series proved to be a fit for the Fiesta, earning a Drivers Championship with Tanner Foust, Silver and Bronze X Games 18 medals with Ken Block and Brian Deegan, and at least one place on podium at all six rounds. Fiesta fielded six spots in the series between the Olsbergs MSE and the Monster World Rally teams, which scored a second consecutive Manufacturers' Championship for Ford.

Mustang fostered its growing presence in the Formula DRIFT series, earning a podium finish at six of seven rounds. Both drivers, Vaughn Gittin Jr. and Justin Pawlak, earned two first-place finishes, tallying four wins for Mustang in the 2012 season. Strong performances by Gittin, who finished second in the Championship just 19.40 points behind first place, and Pawlak, who finished fourth in points, garnered attention leading to Ford’s official sponsorship of Formula DRIFT for the 2013 season.

Brian Deegan lead the competition in the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series and reclaimed the Pro 2 Unlimited Championship in F-150 SVT Raptor. En route to the championship, Deegan piloted Raptor to a combined eight races and 15 podiums in Pro Lite and Pro 2 Unlimited in the 2012 season.

Fiesta HFHV, piloted by Ken Block and co-driver Alex Gelsomino, clinched its second Open class win out of two Rally America National Championship events entered in the 2012 season (Rally in the 100 Acre Wood and Olympus Rally). Chris Duplessis and co-driver Alex Kihurani earned Ford its second Rally America two-wheel-drive Championship and tallied five podium appearances in the Fiesta R2. With Block and Duplessis taking wins at Rally in 100 Acre Wood and Olympus Rally, Ford became the first manufacturer to win the Two-Wheel-Drive and Open class divisions at the same Rally America National event in 2012.
