Justin Pawlak “JTP” started his drifting career at the end of 2005 and it wasn’t until 2008 that he campaigned for the Formula Drift Championship. In his rookie season, Pawlak carried over quite the reputation from his success in JustDrift, Formula D Pro-AM, the HIN Drift Demo Tour, along with a first place finish at Los Angeles NOPI drift event. Pawlak’s reputation stayed intact throughout his first full season tallying two podium appearances.
In 2010 Pawlak found a home with Team Falken Tire driving the 2010 teal and blue Falken Tire Ford Mustang and had his best championship finish in 11th place. Having a solid season with a new team and car behind him, Pawlak made 2011 a banner year taking his first Formula Drift win in the first round and an overall season finish in 2nd just 6 points behind the champion. Pawlak started the 2012 season with two consecutive wins and finished fourth overall in the championship. In his 2013 season Pawlak had one podium appearance finishing 2nd at Wall Speedway. For the 2015 season, Pawlak teams up with 2013 Formula D Champion Michael Essa to run a 2 car Roush Performance/SLP Performance Team effort. Pawlak is looking forward to a great season with a new team and car but will be bringing that same hard driving style back to the track!
- Pawlak won his first competition in 2006 at the JustDrift season opener in southern California after just starting his drifting career late in 2005.
- The relationship between Team Falken Tire and Pawlak was initiated by Ford Mustang teammate, Vaughn Gittin Jr., after Gittin approached him at a mutual friends home to gauge his interest in driving for the team.
- In 2012, Pawlak was award the Tires.com Triple Crown bonus prize which is awarded to the driver that accumulates the most points within the selected three rounds of competition. For the 2012 Formula DRIFT Pro Championship season the event chosen were Round 2: Road to the Championship at Road Atlanta, Round 5: Throwdown at Evergreen Speedway and Round 7: Title Fight at Irwindale Speedway.
