Vaughn Gittin Jr. is one of drifting’s most iconic figures and has made his Monster Energy Nitto Tire Ford Mustang RTR one of the sport's most identifiable cars. Best known for his aggressive, foot to the floor, big smoke driving style Gittin earned his first Formula Drift Championship in 2010. In 2011, Gittin won the World Drift Series (WDS) championship, China’s premier drift series, in his inaugural season overseas.
For two consecutive seasons (2012, 2013), Gittin finished the Formula Drift season as the highest qualifying driver and was the first place winner at WDS, Tianjin, China. Also in 2013, Gittin took on the role of team-owner on top of competitor and launched the RTR Drift Team.
- Gittin is the only American to win a D1 Grand Prix event, not once - but twice. In 2005, Gittin stunned the world when he won the D1GP USA vs. Japan and once again in 2007, when he earned America a win at the D1GP USA All-Star World Championship.
- In 2013, Formula Drift awarded Gittin the “Ace Driver of the Decade,” for tallying the most tandem battle wins than any other driver in Formula Drift history.
- Gittin became the second-ever Formula Drift Champion, in 2010, with a strictly-drifting background.
