Joni Wiman is an up-and-coming driver in the Global Rallycross championship. The 20-year-old driver has earned a reputation for calculated precision on the course, a style influenced by his mentor, two-time World Rally Champion Marcus Grönholm.

After sweeping all six rounds of the 2013 GRC Lites championship in his debut season, Wiman moves up to the SuperCar category, driving the Red Bull/Bluebeam OMSE Ford Fiesta ST in the Red Bull Global Rallycross championship in 2014.

In 2012, he made his rallycross debut when he entered a round of the European Rallycross Championship in Belgium. He powered his two-wheel drive Super 1600 racer onto the podium, finishing second. He ran three more rounds that season, earning a pair of pole positions.

When he isn’t racing, Wiman trains for competition at his home in Finland and helps his father with the family’s excavation business.

  • He won the 2008 European Karting Championship at the age of 14, and progressed to single-seater open wheel racing.
  • In 2010, he finished the Formula Renault 2.0 UK Winter Series in the runner-up position.
  • In 2013, Wiman’s six-race sweep set a record for the most consecutive wins in the GRC series.
