Trevor Bayne still has to pinch himself sometimes when he gets introduced as the 2011 Daytona 500 champion, but the youngest driver to ever win “The Great American Race” readily admits that he’s living a dream. As driver for the famed Wood Brothers the last two full years, Bayne has been limited to less than 20 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races per season and while that will likely be the plan again in 2013, he’ll gain more valuable seat time by virtue of a full-time NASCAR Nationwide Series ride with Roush Fenway Racing in the No. 6 Mustang that Ricky Stenhouse Jr. has driven to consecutive series championships.

And while his Daytona 500 victory thrust him into the spotlight and made him a household name, the fact remains that he will by only 22 years old at the start of the 2013 season with 34 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and 85 NASCAR Nationwide Series starts. He has one victory in the NASCAR Nationwide Series with that coming at Texas Motor Speedway in 2011, but Bayne did not compete at all in the series last year due to a lack of sponsorship support. As a result, this will mark the first full year he has competed with Roush Fenway Racing after signing with the organization during the 2010 season.

* Bayne’s big NASCAR break came in 2008 when he was signed by Dale Earnhardt, Inc. as a development driver.  

* The first NASCAR start for Bayne came in the NASCAR Nationwide Series in 2009 and it occurred at his home track -- Bristol Motor Speedway -- for car owner Jimmy Means.  He was 18 years old and started 26th in the Scotts Turf Builder 300 before finishing 23rd.

* Bayne lives in the Charlotte area, but also spends a great deal of time in his hometown of Knoxville, Tenn. He got engaged to his girlfriend, Ashton, just before Christmas 2012.

When Trevor Bayne won the 2011 Daytona 500, he became the 17th different driver to win a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race for the Wood Brothers.
